Border Leicester
Border Leicesters are considered a long wool breed with coarse, curled, lustrous wool. It's a handspinner's dream; strong, yet soft and silky to the hand.
Registered Border Leicester ram and ewe lambs available in spring as well as proven ewes and rams. We offer white, black-factored white, and black Border Leicesters.
Targhee
Targhees are considered a fine wool breed. They produce high quality apparel-type wool, very soft and perfect for garments worn against the skin. Handspinners know it for its bouncy, soft hand and excellent elasticity.
Registered (and unregistered) Targhee ram and ewe lambs available in spring. Photo of Joy and her twins, Mayqueen and Zeus, just 4 days old in the picture.
The Starshire flock
Starshire Ranch maintains a flock of about 10-15 ewes. Lambing begins in February. Our Border Leicester's have New Zealand bloodlines, great fleece and meat. Targhee's are known for raising a high percentage of twins and excel in pounds of lamb weaned per ewe. This year we have added two Texel yearlings and three Debouillet ewe lambs to our flock. We have kept back two great looking ewe lambs, one Targhee and one Border Leicester. 2009 pictures on the Starshire flock page.
